Rory Smith Golf on….

Hoodies – yes or no?

Earlier this year Tyrell Hatton wore a hoodie whilst playing in a golf tournament. Cue spluttering into gin and tonics in any golf club houses still currently open.

Golf has always been known for dress codes and etiquette. Standards are important but given the increase this year in participation in golf – is this something that needs to be looked at?

Most clubs have stipulations about collarless tops and denim jeans. And surely it’s good to get dressed up in your favoured “uniform” to play golf. Rory and Tiger pushed the boundaries with their crew necks and barely there collars so why not hoodies.

It wasn’t something that Rory Smith Golf had considered prior to Tyrrell’s lead but playing in the winter (and possessing some cool Under Armour tops) it can make sense. While the hood does sometimes move around when bending over a putt, it’s a piece of clothing that Rory is happy to wear in a Scottish winter on the course.
